  • Transition to BSN Role (NURS 3203) — This course explores the BSN competencies, which differ from those of a nurse holding an associate degree. The course will focus on a deep understanding of the changing U.S. health care delivery system, including its relationship to nursing theories, standards and scope of practice, and roles and responsibilities of the nurse. The role of the nurse in policy development and political action at the employer, local, state, and national levels are emphasized..

  • Community Nursing & Population Health (NURS 4415) — This course provides a solid foundation in community and public health nursing concepts; interventions for individuals, families, and communities; health promotion; and the multifaceted role of the community-oriented nurse. The focus will be on developing competence in assessing the needs of a population, developing and implementing appropriate interventions and evaluating their effectiveness. This course is unique to the RN-to-BSN program.

  • Leadership & Management for the RN (NURS 4405) — This course introduces the roles of leader, manager, and follower in the context of health care organizations. The course explores concepts associated with leadership, such as interpersonal communication, conflict, change, strategic decision making, team building, power, politics and influence, and delegation. The competencies of a first-line manager in budgeting, staffing, scheduling and other human relations functions are also explored. This course is only for the RN-to-BSN program.

Students who wish to enroll in SEU Carolina’s RN to BSN online program must:

  1. Have completed an NLN-accredited nursing program with a 2.5 GPA or higher

  2. Have a current, unencumbered RN license

  3. Possess a current BLS card from the American Heart Association with AED

  4. Show proof of required immunizations/titles upon acceptance

  5. Hold professional liability insurance
